New York is in flames?

I was trying to get in contact with my parents today and haven’t been able to. Then I heard on the news something about crazy shit happening in New York. The news has been spotty, so it’s not really helping. Then I stumbled upon some random soldier’s blog who is apparently in New York. It seems like he’s writing some sort of joke blog or something because he couldn’t be serious. New York isn’t actually in flames right now, is it?

Normally I don’t use my blog to get in touch with my friends, but since some people refuse to answer their phones, I have no choice. Seriously, Jake. Where the hell are you? Call me!
Packing and Leaving

No, I’m not packing and leaving Denver. But everyone else is! Half of my classes were canceled and the others were half-empty. Everyone’s freaking out over this flu crap. Don’t get me wrong…it’s freaky. I know several people who have gotten mild flu symptoms and the local news is reporting that the problem is that we’re dealing with more than one flu strain. But most of the problems we’re having are become people are being stupid. After all, if everyone wasn’t crowding together at the hospital, people wouldn’t be spreading the flu so easily. Even still, I’m pragmatic enough to know I should prepare for the worst. So I’m going to wear one of the billion masks mom sent me the last time this happened and brave the mobs. Speaking of which, haven’t heard from mom and dad in a while. Should probably see how things are on the east coast. The news sure isn’t telling me much.

Holy shit! People have frakking superflu or something! Apparently it’s not the H1N1 virus at all…it’s WORSE!
I went to pay my electric bill today and once I got there I saw a bunch of military and police everywhere. Then at one point I heard a bunch of people yelling. There were several medical workers and military trying to subdue this guy who was seriously messed up. He had to be strapped to a gurney and everyone just stood back while he screamed and struggled. His eyes were clouded over, he was frothing at the mouth, and seemed oblivious to pain. It was one of the freakiest things I’ve ever seen in my life.
I paid my stupid bill and went back to my apartment. I’m not going back into town until all this blows over. It’s absolutely ridiculous.
Volunteers Needed to Fight H1N1

I spoke with a friend from Fort Carson last night and I’m beginning to freak out a little. He said that he can’t leave his apartment because the military won’t let him. There are a ton of people infected with the virus right now, and they’re not even letting people leave their homes for medicine. Says it’s too dangerous. He even heard gunfire all night long. The local news is reporting that the virus is being controlled, but I have no idea why anyone would be shooting. I can’t believe this isn’t all over the national news. Apparently the H1N1 has spread to several major cities, which is more important than PEOPLE SHOOTING EACH OTHER in some small Colorado town. >.< They’re asking for volunteers to help people get inoculated, but if guns are involved they can leave me out of it.
WTH is going on in Fort Carson?

If anyone can tell me what’s going on in FC, I think we would all appreciate it. Jake, Tiko, and Miranda…if any of you are reading this but ignoring my texts, you suck. WTH is going on in Fort Carson!? Someone said it was the H1N1 virus, and I’m hearing rumors that a BUNCH of people are infected. One guy in my French class said that the military is trying to keep people quarantined. Quarantined!? Maybe I wrong about the swing flu and pigs trying to take over the world.

Several people missed school today because of the hype over this H1N1 thing. Dumbasses. There wasn’t even a confirmed case, but you wouldn’t know that by the sudden military presence at our school. Did you read that? THE MILITARY IS AT MY SCHOOL! What the hell is wrong with you people? It’s just a virus, and it’s not even a particularly virulent one. We’ll probably just lose some old person that was sick from something else. I know that sounds cruel, but damn. One person dies and they’ll blame it on pigs everywhere. Run for your life! Pigs are taking over the world!

So, I spent all damn day working on upgrading our database because apparently no one at my hosting company cares about customer service. I’ll spare you the boring details, but half of my sites use a new system that would work better than most sites IF ONLY my stupid host would activate it on their end. I have never had this much trouble with them. I was on hold forever, and once I finally got through, the only guy on the end was acting funny and never answered my question. He told me I’d have to call back later because “everyone’s home sick.” Um…EVERYONE!? Give me a break.
Who’s the tank? Yes.
